The focus of the Child Protection Program is social reintegration and protection of vulnerable children including education, psycho-social support and rehabilitation. Target groups include children victims of conflict including orphans of genocide, Children born out of rape, victims of domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, teen mothers and adolescent girls.
As well as representing widows in Rwanda, AVEGA has a vested interest in the rights of children. Children represent the future of Rwanda, and AVEGA worked closely with the stakeholders to combat child exploitation, support child development and mental health, and increase access to education, but still remain much to face and remove for child rights general awareness in the society.
