Our Focuses

HIV/AIDS, STIs & SRHR (prevention, testing, and treatment) Service

At AVEGA, we believe that the best way to stop the spread of HIV is through prevention. Our program focuses on empowering vulnerable populations, particularly Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW), Children of Female Sex Workers (FSWs), and Teen Mothers who are at high risk of HIV/AIDS. These individuals often face economic challenges, lack of support, and school dropouts, which increase their vulnerability to HIV/AIDS. Our approach aims to reduce HIV incidence by providing education, health interventions, and promoting educational attainment.

We offer vocational training to empower economically, deliver Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) education, run awareness campaigns on HIV prevention, and engage in peer education initiatives. Through our health facilities in Remera, Rwamagana, and Ntarama, we provide HIV/AIDS treatment, nutritional support, and a range of medical services, including hepatitis and TB screening, cervical cancer screening, and specialized care. We also provide economic support through kitchen gardens and vocational training to improve livelihoods. To further support AGYW, we sponsor the education of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), covering school fees, scholastic materials, and psychosocial interventions.

Many of these children are either living with HIV or have parents who are HIV-positive. In addition, we integrate TB and HIV services, ensuring routine screening for both, and provide antenatal and postnatal care for pregnant and lactating mothers. Through these comprehensive efforts, AVEGA helps break the cycle of vulnerability, providing crucial support to beneficiaries and promoting healthier, more empowered communities.
