Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 71% of all deaths. In Rwanda, NCDs contribute to 44% of all fatalities, with premature deaths from NCDs representing 85% of deaths among people aged 30-69 in resource-limited countries. Despite significant progress in rebuilding Rwanda’s health system, including near-universal access to HIV and TB treatments, the challenge of NCD prevention and treatment remains, particularly at the community level where routine health check-ups are less common. In response, AVEGA has extended its service delivery to include NCD care for both its members, many of whom are over 55, and the general population.

Through community campaigns and medical outreach, we raise awareness, encourage early detection, and provide essential treatment for NCDs. Our efforts aim to reduce the burden of these diseases by promoting prevention and early intervention, ensuring that both vulnerable groups and the wider community have access to the care they need to live healthier, more resilient lives.
